About SGIS..
Owing to the success of Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) IB World School (sister school of St. Gabriel International School in Xiamen, China), its founder and headmaster, Dr. Mildred Aires Go and its benevolent supporter, Engr. Roman Go, decided to open a similar school in the Philippines. It was named St. Gabriel International School in honor of Archangel Gabriel, the Messenger of Goodwill. St. Gabriel International School was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1999 and right away was given the permit to operate by the Dept. of Education (DepEd), while allowing it to use the title “international” since it adopts a global philosophy of education that is college preparatory and co-educational as well. The school opened in June 2000. In 2000, it was granted a permit to accept foreign students by the Bureau of Immigration. By 2003 to 2005, the school was given full recognition by the government, a status higher than just a permit to operate.
The school envisions that St. Gabriel International School as an institution of learning and providing the needs of each individual member in a family-like atmosphere through a well-balanced academic curriculum in a multi-cultural context and preparing them for their role in building a prosperous nation for a better peaceful world.
